After a full day struggling with GST portal to login, payment & filing return, it was around evening when Govt had come up with new circular extending the last date of filling return & payment of tax of July 2017 by 5 days, again with a condition. Exactly what are the important points there in the circular? let’s check it out but make sure you sit back, relax & enjoy, because it’s weekend!
1. Last date for payment of tax is 25th August, 2017 instead of 20th August, 2017 (for July 2017).
2. Last date for filling return which was 20th August 2017, is extended till 25th August 2017(for July 2017).
3. Last date for filling return which was 28th August, 2017 is remains same i.e. 28th August 2017. (for July 2017)
So, it means:
Whoever is opting to file GST TRAN 1 by 28th August ’17:-
1. Shall pay tax for the month July 2017, till 25th Of August 2017 as oppose to 20th August 2017 earlier
2. Shall file the GST TRAN 1 & GSTR 3B by 28th August 2017 (no extension for these returns).
Whoever is not opting to file GST TRAN 1 by 28th August ’17:–
1. Shall pay tax for the month July 2017, till 25th Of August 2017 as oppose to 20th August 2017 earlier
2. Shall file the GST TRAN 1 by 30th September to get the transition credit & to provide other prescribed details
3. Shall file GSTR 3B by 25th August 2017 as oppose to 20th August 2017 earlier.
Hence, enjoy the weekend, and no need to worry about filling GSTR 3B by tomorrow. However try to file the return as soon as possible, and do not wait till last date, in order not to face any last moment technological difficulty. At the time of writing this article, Govt has not published any notification, however as communicated by Govt, notification will follow soon. Please keep an eye at official websites.
