Dear Hon’ble President,

ICAI New Delhi.

Heartiest Congratulations for the Grand Virtual CA Day, 2020 celebration.

Sir, I am sure you must have received my Happy CA Day Wishes to you through whatsup message.

First of all, we take this opportunity to congratulate you for launching new “Code of Ethics” today when our country has reported all time high cases of Covid-19. Despite national emergency, we hope you must have taken this measure in the overall interests of all SMPs which are badly suffering since March 2020 due to Covid-19. It would be great if your team can enlighten all members about benefits of new Code because of which you had to launch them. Many organizations and Government agencies across the globe are exploring a possibility to revoke “force majeure” clause to protect their interests in view of unprecedented pandemic and so, we will be happy to know if you have also explore such measures before launching the Code?

Sir, we are from Vasai Branch which falls under Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). MMR is the worst affected part in entire Asia and hence, have been consistently under lockdown since March 2020 till now. Being financial capital, Mumbai has maximum businesses and most of them have been adversely affected. Hopefully, you will agree that it has directly impacted cash-flows of almost all SMPs. Being conservative professionals, many CAs have not taken loans and so, they are not eligible for any additional loans under Atmanirbhar package. We had repeatedly highlighted this issue to you since last couple of months with a request to make arrangements to offer fees relief to all CAs besides financial assistance through banks. We sincerely hope that you might have gone through our representation during last 2 months and will take necessary action which would be beneficial to entire CA fraternity.

Sir, I also congratulate you for your pathbreaking step to offer free online learning to all students besides launching mega scholarship scheme. As all of us know, most of the students are financially supported by their parents while members have to support not only own family but also staff. In this background, as you are offering free learning to students, perhaps, you need to reconsider your decision to recover money from members for every CPE webinar / study group meeting and other e-learning course portal fees for the current year.

In a country of 130+ crore Indians, PMO quickly acknowledges every email and also responds to them with facts. In this background, we are confused as to why is ICAI not responding to a representation which has been supported by 130+ CAs for last 2 months. Perhaps, you might be busy in preparing for CA Day celebrations and hence, could not respond to us. We once again congratulate you for the CA Day Activities and espcially the Session of MASTER STOKE and since the CA Day celebrations are now over, I request to kindly spare few moments to respond. If you are not finding our requests worth to look into then at least let us know so that we won’t disturb you with our follow-up.

If you need any clarifications, please let us know.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND STAY SAFE !

Thanks sir for raising voice on behalf of the all small and medium practitioners. ICAI has to look into either organising free webinar or may grant relaxation in CPE requirements. ICAI why charging fees for CPE webinars. Due to Covid19 its time to forgo one year membership fees..

  2. Monika Sengupta says:

Thank you CA Unmeshji for raising the voice on behalf of all CA’s and your sincere efforts. Expecting a positive reply soon from ICAI. 👍

  3. CA Rajendra Bhandari says:

I totally agree with CA unmeshji. In this pandemic time our institute should think about the SMP’s and extend support in all the possible ways like making all webinars free so that everybody can take the benefit of knowledge sharing, extend financial assistance to SMP’ as clients are unable to pay fees due to covid. Thanks in anticipation that institute will acknowledge the issue and revert with best possible solution.

  4. CA Lalit Munoyat says:

It is very unprofessional for a highly. Professional institute not to at least acknowledge the thoughts and suggestions of its members. I sincerely expect a positive action on the part of the ICAI
