Tata Motors Limited, a leading entity in the commercial vehicle sector, has announced a significant year-on-year growth in sales for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2027. The company reported a robust 42.7% increase in sales, with a total of 1,35,114 units sold in both domestic and international markets, compared to 94,681 units in the same period last year.

The growth was broad-based, with notable performances across various vehicle categories. Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCV) trucks saw a 40.3% increase in sales, while Intermediate and Light Commercial Vehicles (ILMCV) trucks grew by 24.4%. Passenger carriers experienced a 35.2% rise, and Small Commercial Vehicle (SCV) cargo and pickups recorded a 26.2% increase. The international business segment showed a remarkable 177.3% growth, underscoring Tata Motors’ expanding global footprint.

Girish Wagh, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors, attributed the strong performance to the company’s diverse portfolio and customer-centric innovations. He noted that the growth was driven by sustained activity in core sectors such as infrastructure, construction, and mining, along with rising demand in e-commerce and logistics. The company also witnessed a 2.4 times year-on-year increase in electric vehicle volumes, reflecting a growing trend towards sustainable mobility solutions.

Looking forward, Tata Motors remains optimistic about sustaining its growth trajectory, despite challenges such as fluctuating commodity costs and potential interest rate hikes. The company anticipates continued demand driven by government capital expenditure, post-monsoon construction activities, and the festive season. Analysts view Tata Motors’ strategic focus on innovation and disciplined execution as key factors in maintaining its competitive edge in the dynamic commercial vehicle market.
