News from unconfirmed sources said that CBEC is to issue in day or two a notification extending the due date for filing of ST-3 return from 25.10.2011 to 26.12.2011 to enable assessees to comply with new system of online filing.

The procedure of getting user id and password is cumbersome. The same may be simplified as the one that is prevalent for Income Tax. The ST Regn. No. may be treated as user id and selection of password may be left to the assessees with security checks like secret question, date of formation/birth etc.,This will eliminate the time the assessees spent on going to the office for getting user id and password.
really we require extention as on today in many cases the userid & password aviled by the service tax dept are not working. actually they should make e registation system simple. THE SYSTEM AVAILED ON INCOME TAX SITE IS VERY SIMPLE & EASY. BY CONSIDERING THE OVERALL SITUATION IN INDIA. IT SHOULD BE VERY SIMPLE THAT ANY TAX PAYER CAN REGISTER HIS USER ID & PASSWORD EASILY WITHOUT DEPENDING ON SERVICE TAX DEPTT.
