Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance’s Department of Revenue and the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), has announced the promotion of 50 Assistant Commissioners of Income Tax (Junior Scale) to Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax (Senior Time Scale). The appointments, outlined in Notification No. 14 of 2024, are effective from January 1, 2025, or the date the officers assume charge, whichever is later. The promoted officers will serve in Pay Level-11 (Rs. 67,700–2,08,700/-) of the Pay Matrix, as per the revised structure. The appointments remain subject to the outcome of an ongoing case (OA No. 3848/2022) pending before the Central Administrative Tribunal, Principal Bench, Delhi.
