The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Divisional Engineer of Indian Railway Service-1995 batch posted at Bhusawal Division (Maharashtra) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000/- (Rs. Fifty thousand only) from the complainant.
A case was registered against the accused for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs. One lakh from the complainant for getting sanction of bills of Rs Six lakhs regarding painting work done by complainant at Bhusawal Division, even though the work was executed. CBI laid a trap and the accused was arrested while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs. 50,000/- as part payment in his office from the complainant.
Searches were conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused which yielded recovery of cash & documents relating to bank accounts and 3 flats at Nagpur besides other incriminating documents.
The arrested accused is being produced in the Designated Court today.
