Public Notice No. 52 (RE-2001)/1997-2002, issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on December 3, 2001, announces amendments and updates to the Standard Input-Output Norms (SION) outlined in the Handbook of Procedures (Vol. 2) under the Export and Import Policy 1997-2002. Key revisions include corrections, additions, and modifications across various sectors such as chemicals, engineering, and textiles.
For chemicals, new norms (Sr. No. A-2790 to A-2799) cover products like Tri Potassium Phosphate and Atorvastatin Calcium. For engineering, entries like C-1711 to C-1719 introduce standards for products such as tin-free steel tapes and high-chromium valve seats. Amendments also refine descriptions and allowable import quantities for existing entries, ensuring clarity and alignment with current practices.
Additionally, guidelines for certain export items have been updated, such as the redefinition of products like paper-covered copper conductors and CKD/SKD scooters. These changes aim to streamline compliance and support exporters by providing precise norms for import entitlements. The detailed amendments are provided in Annexures A, B, and C attached to the notice.
This notification underscores DGFT’s commitment to updating trade norms, aligning with industry needs, and promoting export efficiency.

Attention is invited to Paragraph 4.11 of the Export and Import Policy 1997-2002, as amended and Paragraphs 7.8 and 7.10 of the Handbook of Procedures, Vol.1, 1997-2002, as amended and also to the Handbook of Procedures, Vol.2, 1997-2002, as amended from time to time.
2. In exercise of the powers conferred under Paragraph 4.11 of the Export and Import Policy 1997-2002, as amended, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby makes the following amendments/modifications and additions in the Handbook of Procedures, Vol.2, 1997-2002, as amended.
3. In the statement of Standard Input Output Norms as contained in the Handbook of Procedures, Vol.2, 1997-2002, as amended, amendments/ corrections at appropriate places as mentioned in Annexure “A” to this Public Notice shall be made.
4. In the statement of Standard Input Output Norms, following additions shall be made at appropriate places as mentioned below:-
CHEMICALS AND ALLIED PRODUCTS
After the existing entry at Sr.No.A-2789, the new entries at Sr.No.A-2790 to A-2799 shall be added as per Annexure ”B” to this Public Notice.
ENGINEERING PRODUCTS
After the existing entry at Sr.No.C-1710, the new entries at Sr.No.C-1711 to C-1719 shall be added as per Annexure ”C” to this Public Notice.
