Directorate General of Foreign Trade has released Policy Circular No. 19 (RE-2001)/1997-2002, dated January 22, 2002, regarding the import conditions for textile and textile articles as outlined in Notification No. 3 (RE-2001)/1997-2002. The circular responds to requests for exemptions concerning the import of textile samples not intended for human consumption. After consultations with the Ministry of Textiles, it has been determined that the testing conditions do not apply to these samples, provided they meet specific criteria: the total quantity must not exceed 100 square meters for fabric and 25 units for other articles, samples must be supplied free of charge, they must be marked as “sample not for sale,” and the importer must declare that the samples will not be used for human consumption in the country.
