The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has issued Public Notice No. 37/2025-26 to amend the Unit of Measurement (UOM) under Standard Input Output Norms (SION) A-290 relating to the export product Metformin HCL. Exercising its powers under the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, the DGFT has revised the UOM format for two key import items—Dicyanodiamide and DMF—used in the manufacture of Metformin HCL. While the quantitative requirement for both inputs remains unchanged at 0.567 kg and 0.37 kg respectively, the amendments standardize the manner in which these quantities are expressed, replacing the earlier “kg/kg” notation with a simplified “Kg.” format. This change ensures uniformity in documentation and compliance across the export-import framework. The revision takes effect immediately and aims to streamline operational clarity for exporters operating under the Advance Authorization scheme, without altering the actual permissible input quantities prescribed under SION A-290.
