FSSAI Adds Four Food Testing Labs, Removes Gujarat Lab

Summary: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), through Notification F.No. QA-12012/8/2021-QA-FSSAI dated 30 September 2026, has amended the list of notified food testing laboratories under Section 43(1) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The amendment modifies the principal notification S.O. 3648(E) dated 6 December 2016 and revises laboratory entries across the Western, Southern and Eastern Regions. The notification removes one laboratory in Gujarat and introduces four laboratories in Maharashtra, Kerala and West Bengal, specifying their registration numbers, addresses and respective scopes of accreditation.

In the Western Region, the entry at serial number 13 relating to Vimta Labs Limited, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has been omitted. Under Maharashtra, Green Envirosafe Engineers & Consultant Private Limited, located at Chakan MIDC, Pune, has been added at serial number 49 with registration number 86/W/FSSAI/2026. Its notified accreditation covers both biological and chemical testing.

For the Southern Region, the notification inserts Envirodesigns Eco Labs Private Limited, Kochi, Kerala, at serial number 22. The laboratory bears registration number 104/S/FSSAI/2026 and is notified for biological and chemical testing. This addition updates the Kerala portion of the notified laboratory list.

In the Eastern Region, two laboratories have been added under West Bengal. National Test House (Eastern Region), Salt Lake, Kolkata, bearing registration number 33/E/FSSAI/2026, has been included for biological and chemical testing. Regional Food Testing Laboratory, Siliguri, Darjeeling, bearing registration number 34/E/FSSAI/2026, has been included with chemical testing accreditation. The different scopes of accreditation are expressly identified in the notification.

The notification was issued by Rajit Punhani, Chief Executive Officer, FSSAI. It also records that the principal notification dated 6 December 2016 was previously amended on 25 August 2026. The changes update the officially notified laboratory list and are relevant to food businesses, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders selecting laboratories for testing within their specified accreditation scopes.
