CBIC notifies Ultapani LCS route Road from Ultapani via Saralpara via Naharani (SSB Camp) to Sarpang District (Bhutan) by amendment of Principal Notification No. 63/1994-Customs (N.T.) dated 21st November, 1994 which was carried out by Notification No. 71/2024- Customs (N.T.) | Dated: 29th October, 2024.

Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued Notification No. 71/2024-Customs (N.T.), dated October 29, 2024, amending the existing Notification No. 63/1994-Customs (N.T.), originally issued on November 21, 1994. This amendment specifically updates trade routes along the India-Bhutan border, facilitating smoother cross-border trade by adding the road route from Ultapani through Saralpara and Naharani (SSB Camp) to Sarpang District in Bhutan. The new route, detailed under serial number 3 of the original notification’s table, aims to strengthen trade links and logistical efficiency between the two countries. This amendment falls under the powers conferred by Section 7, clauses (b) and (c), of the Customs Act, 1962, enabling the CBIC to designate specific routes for land customs operations along India’s borders. The updated route, facilitated through the Saralpara and Naharani checkpoints, will provide an additional entry point for goods moving between India and Bhutan, fostering closer economic collaboration.
