NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 18th March, 2021
G.S.R. 198(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 27 of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 (39 of 1987), the Central Government, in consultation with the Chief Justice of India, hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee Rules, 2000, namely :—
1. Short title and commencement.–(1) These rules may be called the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee (Amendment) Rules, 2021.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee Rules, 2000, in rule 4, for clause (a) and (b)
the following shall be substituted, namely:-
“(a) an officer of the Supreme Court Registry not below the rank of Registrar; or
(b) an officer of Higher Judicial Service in the rank of Additional District and Sessions Judge with minimum one year of experience; or
(c) an officer of the rank of Additional Secretary to the Government of India; and
must have knowledge of mediation and other Alternative Dispute Resolution activities and should have minimum one year experience of working with legal aid authorities.”

Note : The Principal Rules were published vide G.S.R. 582 (E), dated the 3rd July, 2000, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, Section-3, Sub-section (i), dated the 3rd July, 2000 and subsequently amended vide G.S.R. 823(E), dated the 28th November, 2008, G.S.R. 807(E), dated the 14th November, 2011, G.S.R. 1237(E), dated the 27th December, 2018.
