Summary: The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), through Circular No. PFRDA/2026/53/REG-POP/09 dated 26 October 2026, has revised the implementation date of the new charge structure applicable to Points of Presence (PoPs) under the National Pension System (NPS) and NPS Lite. The circular partially modifies PFRDA Circular No. PFRDA/2026/46/REG-PoP/08 dated 28 August 2026, which prescribed the revised charge structure for all schemes under NPS and NPS Lite.
Under the earlier circular, the revised charges were scheduled to take effect from 1 October 2026. PFRDA has now postponed their implementation to 1 December 2026. Accordingly, Central Recordkeeping Agencies (CRAs) are required to implement the revised charge structure for deduction of applicable charges from the revised effective date. The modification concerns the implementation timeline and does not introduce any further changes to the charge structure or other provisions of the earlier circular.
The circular is addressed to all PoPs, CRAs and other stakeholders involved in administering NPS and NPS Lite. It clarifies the revised commencement date for implementation of the applicable charges. All other provisions of the circular dated 28 August 2026 remain unchanged.
