On October 3, 2024, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) issued a notification amending the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (Form of Annual Statement of Accounts) Rules, 2018, under the powers granted by the Companies Act, 2013. The amendment, referred to as the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (Form of Annual Statement of Accounts) Amendment Rules, 2024, will take effect upon publication in the Official Gazette. The key change in these rules is the substitution of the term “one member” with “the chief executive officer” in rule 5, sub-rule (2) of the original 2018 rules. This update aims to clarify the responsibility for the annual statement of accounts within the authority. The principal rules were initially published in the Gazette of India on October 11, 2018, under G.S.R. 1023(E).
