IEPF Authority Reconstituted by RBI Ex-Officio Appointment

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, by Notification dated 8 January 2026, amended the composition of the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority under section 125 of the Companies Act, 2013 read with the 2016 Rules. The amendment substitutes the existing entry at serial number 3 of the principal notification to designate Smt. Sonali Sen Gupta, Executive Director, Reserve Bank of India, as a Member, ex-officio of the Authority. This change updates the official representation from the Reserve Bank of India within the IEPF Authority framework. The notification forms part of a continuing series of amendments to the original 2016 notification governing the constitution of the Authority, which oversees matters relating to investor education, awareness, and protection of unclaimed dividends and shares. The amendment takes effect through publication in the Official Gazette and reflects the Central Government’s power to reconstitute or modify the Authority’s membership structure as required for effective administration and inter-institutional representation.

S.O. 158(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (5) and (6) of section 125 of the Companies Act, 2013 (18 of 2013) read with rules 5 and 7 of the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (Appointment of Chairperson and Members, holding of meetings and provision for offices and officers) Rules, 2016, the Central Government hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), dated the 5^th May, 2016 vide number S.O.1647(E), dated the 2^nd May, 2016, namely:-

In the said notification, for serial number 3 and the entries relating thereto, the following serial number and the entries shall be substituted, namely: –
