Deepti Gaur Mukerjee Appointed IEPF Authority Chairperson

On October 3, 2024, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs issued a notification appointing Smt. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee as the chairperson of the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA). This appointment follows the powers granted under sub-sections (5) and (6) of section 125 of the Companies Act, 2013, along with the relevant rules from the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority’s guidelines. The notification updates the prior entries in a 2016 government notification, substituting the chairperson’s details to reflect Smt. Mukerjee’s new role. As part of her position, she will serve as chairperson ex officio and will assume office on the specified date. The notification also notes that previous amendments to the authority’s structure have been made at various intervals since its initial establishment.

S.O. 4333(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (5) and (6) of section 125 of the Companies Act, 2013 (18 of 2013) read with rules 5 and 7 of the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (Appointment of Chairperson and Members, holding of meetings and provision for offices and officers) Rules, 2016, the Central Government hereby appoints Smt. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee as chairperson to the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority from the date she assumes her office as such and for that purpose makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii) vide number S.O. 1647 (E), dated the 5^th May, 2016, namely:-

In the said notification, for serial number 1 and the entries relating thereto, the following serial number and the entries shall be substituted, namely: –

“1. Smt. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee, – Chairperson, ex officio; ”
