The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) announced that the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has granted in-principle approval to the proposed stipend rates payable to articled assistants undergoing two years of practical training under the New Scheme of Education & Training and to the draft amendments to the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988. In accordance with Section 30(3) of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, the draft amendment notification was published in Part III, Section 4 of the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, dated 25 June 2026, inviting comments from affected persons. The notification and the proposed stipend rates have been hosted on the ICAI website. Stakeholders may submit their suggestions or objections regarding the draft amendments through the specified Google Form by 5 August 2026, within 30 days from the date the Gazette copies were made available to the public, i.e. 4 July 2026, for consideration by the Council.

Ministry of Corporate Affairs has accorded its in-principle approval on the proposed Stipend rates payable to Articled Assistant undergoing 2 years of practical training under the New Scheme of Education & Training and draft amendment in the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988. In terms of the requirement of sub-section (3) of Section 30 of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, the notification containing draft amendments has been published in Part III Section 4 of the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, dated 25th June, 2026 seeking comments from the persons likely to be affected thereby. The proposed Stipend rates payable to articled assistant undergoing 2 years of articled training have also been hosted on the website of the Institute.
