Finance Minister has introduced the Finance Bill, 2023 in Lok Sabha today, that is 1st February, 2023. Amendments have been proposed through clauses 123 and 124 of the Bill to the Customs Act, 1962, through clauses 125, 126 and 127 of the Bill to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 and through clause 153 of the Bill to section 136 of the Finance Act, 2001.
On the anti-evasion side, based on extensive data analysis, officers of Central Goods & Services Tax, Delhi Zone detected a case of availment of ineligible Input Tax Credit and short payment of tax in excess of Rs. 218 Crores. Out of this, an amount of Rs. 84 Crore has been since recovered. Kudos to the officers for their excellent detections. Keep up the good work!
CBDT directed that cases reopened u/s 147/148A in consonance with Judgement of SC in case of UoI vs. Ashish Agarwal & CBDT instruction No. 01/2022 dated 11.05.2022 shall be completed on or before 31.05.2023.
