SEBI, in collaboration with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), has launched the NISM XXIV- AML and CFT Provisions in Securities Market Certification Examination. This initiative aims to establish a standard knowledge benchmark for employees and associated persons of securities market intermediaries regarding Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) provisions. The certification course covers core concepts of AML and CFT, provisions of the Prevention of Money-Laundering Act (PMLA) and related rules, scheduled offenses under the SEBI Act and the Companies Act, and guidelines on AML, CFT, and Proliferation Financing (PF). The examination, lasting one hour with 50 multiple-choice questions, will result in a certificate for successful participants. SEBI and NISM launch NISM XXIV- AML and CFT Provisions in Securities Market Certification Examination
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the capital market, SEBI has been organising outreach programs on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) Provisions for the benefits of securities market intermediaries. It has also been undertaking various initiatives for creating awareness regarding the said provisions amongst securities market participants.
Towards this objective, the certification course – AML and CFT Provisions in Securities Market Certification Examination, has been conceptualised and developed by SEBI in collaboration with National Institute of Securities Markets.
This certification course aims to create a common minimum knowledge benchmark for employees and associated persons of securities market intermediaries about:
- Concepts of AML and CFT and related aspects, provisions of the PMLA & PML rules, and scheduled offences under the SEBI Act and the Companies Act.
- Guidelines pertaining to Anti Money Laundering (AML) Standards, Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) and Proliferation Financing (PF).
It has an exam of one hour duration, consisting 50 questions of 1 mark each. Upon successful completion of the course, the participants will be awarded a certificate. The course proposes to foster knowledge about the concepts of AML and CFT among the participants.
