How to Fix ‘Please Upload a Standard Document’ Error in PAN/TAN Applications – Guidelines and Resolutions
Recently, while applying for a PAN, I encountered a frustrating error: “Please upload a standard document.” Despite extensive online searches, I couldn’t find a clear resolution. In my case, the problem was that the supporting documents were not scanned in Black & White format and the DPI was not exactly 200, as required.

1. Uploading Signature
Error: The signature file is not in .JPEG
format.
Resolution: Upload the signature in .JPEG
format ONLY (other formats are not accepted).
2. Uploading Photograph
Error: The photograph file is in .PNG
or .GIF
format instead of .JPEG

PAN/TAN applicants should have scanned image of photograph, signatures and supporting documents i.e. Proof of Identity (POI) /Proof of Address (POA) /Proof of Date of Birth (PODB). The photo/signature and supporting documents should be scanned as per following specifications :
