Hindalco Industries Limited, the flagship metals company of the Aditya Birla Group, announced record-breaking financial results for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2027, driven by robust performance across its business segments. The company reported a consolidated revenue of ₹91,708 crore, marking a 39% increase compared to the same quarter last year. The consolidated EBITDA stood at ₹13,757 crore, reflecting a 42% growth year-on-year, while the net profit soared to ₹7,533 crore, up 59% from the previous year.
The impressive results were attributed to the strength of Hindalco’s integrated business model, which combines upstream metals production with downstream value-added products. The Aluminium Upstream business reported an EBITDA growth of 55%, while non-LME-linked businesses, including Novelis and Copper, contributed significantly to the company’s earnings. Novelis, Hindalco’s US-based subsidiary, reported a 32% increase in adjusted EBITDA, supported by structural cost reductions and normalised production levels at its Oswego plant.
The Copper business achieved its highest-ever quarterly EBITDA of ₹1,673 crore, a 164% increase, driven by strong operational performance and healthy domestic demand. Hindalco also made significant strides in sustainability, operationalising a 65 MW round-the-clock renewable energy project and commissioning additional renewable energy capacity, taking its total installed capacity to 643 MW.
Looking forward, Hindalco is poised for further growth with the commissioning of new projects, including the Bay Minette facility and expansions in copper recycling and aluminium battery foil production. These initiatives are expected to enhance the company’s non-LME-linked business share, reinforcing its position as a leading global metals company.
Analysts view Hindalco’s performance as a testament to its strategic focus on integrating upstream and downstream operations, which has enabled it to navigate market volatility effectively. The company’s commitment to sustainability and ongoing investments in capacity expansion are anticipated to support continued growth and resilience in the face of global economic challenges.
