Trademark Registration Procedure

Step 1: – Finding the right class

  • Go to the site http://euipo.europa.eu/ec2/
  • Select Office- India (CGPDTM) for registration in India.
  • Search the product or service for which you want to register the mark in the “Search term” tab.

  • The site will show results showing the classes for those products and services.

Step 2: – Selecting name of the brand and checking the availability.

  • Generate and select a unique name or logo for your brand.
  • Go to the site https://ipindiaonline.gov.in/tmrpublicsearch/frmmain.aspx for checking the availability of the name or logo.

  • Type in the name you want to register in the appropriate class. The Trademark classes are from 1 to 45.
  • The search criteria can be set to “Start with”, “Contains” and “match with”. You can select it from the drop-down menu

  • After you press on the search button, it will show you the results of existing marks of that name in that particular class.

  •  If you find no similar mark, it means that the mark is available for registration and you can proceed with registration then.
