The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), through Circular No. IRDAI/F&I/CIR/MISC/102/8/2026 dated 07.08.2026, has directed all life insurers, general insurers and health insurers to submit specified monthly information to facilitate the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) in preparing the Index of Service Production (ISP). From July 2026 onwards, general and health insurers (excluding reinsurers) must submit Gross Direct Premium, Claims Paid (Direct), and Investment Income of Policyholders and Shareholders, while life insurers must submit Premium (Gross), Benefits Paid (Gross), and Investment Income for Policyholders and Shareholders. The information is to be furnished through National Informatics Centre (NIC) online data templates, with separate templates prescribed for life insurers and for general and health insurers. The NIC template links will be shared separately. The required information must be submitted on or before the 15th day of the month succeeding the reporting month, and insurers have been advised to ensure that the information furnished is complete and accurate. The circular is issued under Section 14(2)(h) of the IRDA Act, 1999, solely to meet ISP data requirements and does not modify the disclosure requirements or the manner of preparation of financial statements under the Insurance Act, 1938, the IRDA Act, 1999, or the regulations framed thereunder.

Sub: Submission of information by insurers on monthly basis for the purpose of Index of Service Production
1. In order to facilitate the data requirements of Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) in preparation of Index of Service Production (ISP), information on Premium Income, Investment Income and Claims of insurers is required.
2. General and Health Insurers (excluding Reinsurers) are required from July 2026 onwards to submit Gross Direct Premium, Claims Paid (Direct) and Investment Income of Policyholders and Shareholders. Life insurers are required to submit Premium (Gross), Benefits paid (Gross) and Investment Income for Policyholders and Shareholders.
3. The details shall be submitted through the National Informatics Centre (NIC) online data templates created for the purpose.

4. The details through the NIC form shall be submitted on or before the 15th day of the month succeeding the reporting month. Insurers are advised to ensure that the information furnished is complete and accurate at the time of submission.
5. This circular is issued under Section 14(2)(h) of IRDA Act, 1999, with the limited purpose of enabling life insurers, General and Health Insurers to meet the data requirements of Index of Service Production (ISP). These requirements do not in any manner, modify the disclosure requirements or the manner of preparation of financial statements as required under the Insurance Act, 1938, IRDA Act,1999 and the Regulations framed thereunder.
