The Institute of Cost Accountants of India has issued an advisory cautioning members and stakeholders against the circulation of unauthorised, unauthenticated, and unsigned documents claiming to reflect official interactions with government ministries, particularly the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. These communications, falsely attributed to the Institute’s Council or Regional Councils, purport to convey advisories, notices, or directions to cost auditors and auditees. The Institute has categorically clarified that such materials have not been issued, approved, or authenticated by it and are false, misleading, and devoid of any legal validity or binding force. It has further stated that the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has not announced or undertaken any actions as claimed in these communications. Members and stakeholders have been strongly advised not to rely on, circulate, or act upon such materials and to trust only officially issued communications through authorised channels. The Institute has also warned that legal and disciplinary action, including civil or criminal proceedings, may be initiated against those responsible for creating or disseminating such misinformation.

Advisory

It has been brought to the notice of the Institute that certain unauthorised, unauthenticated and unsigned documents, communications and articles purporting to relate to interactions with various ministries, particularly the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) are being circulated among the Members of the Institute and among companies covered under the statutory cost audit framework. The Institute categorically states that these documents and communications have not been issued, approved or authenticated by the Institute, its Council or any of its Regional Councils. Such materials are false, misleading, unauthorised and carry no legal standing, validity or binding effect of any kind.

It is further clarified that the Ministry of Corporate Affairs does not issue or announce any such actions or measures as mentioned in these unauthorised communications. Accordingly, the Institute does not recognise, endorse or take responsibility for the contents of any such documents.

Members, stakeholders and all concerned parties are strongly advised not to rely upon, circulate or act on any such unauthorised or unauthenticated materials. All official communications from the Institute will be issued only through authorised channels and will bear proper authentication and signatures.

The Institute reserves the right to initiate legal and disciplinary proceedings, including civil and/or criminal action, against any individual(s) found responsible for the creation, circulation or dissemination of such false and misleading information.
