The Government of India issued Notification No. 15(RE-2000)/1997-2002 on May 10, 2000, which amends the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 1997-2002. This notification removes licensing note no. 2 at the end of chapters 84 to 98 in the ITC(HS) list. Additionally, Public Notice No. 290(PN) from April 30, 1995, related to chapter 85, is withdrawn, and its licensing note is also deleted. These changes are made under the powers granted by the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, and are intended to streamline export and import procedures.

NEW DELHI: 10th May, 2000
S.O (E) – In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 1.3 and 4.1 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items , 1997-2002 published on 31st March, 1997 (RE-98) as amended from time to time, namely –
” 1. The licensing note no.2, at the end of chapters 84,86,87,88,89,90, 91,92,93, 94, 95,96 and 98 of ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 1997-2002, is deleted.
2. Public Notice No. 290(PN) dated 30.04.95, appearing at licensing note no. 3 to chapter 85 of ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 1997-2002 is withdrawn and the said licensing note is deleted.”
