Summary: The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), through Public Notice No. 34/2026-27 dated 19 October 2026, has extended the timeline for surrender of unutilised Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) quantity allocated for import of 10 lakh metric tonnes of raw sugar. The notice has been issued under Paragraphs 1.03 and 2.04 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, in continuation of Public Notice No. 27/2026-2027 dated 20 August 2026, read with Public Notice No. 30/2026-2027 dated 14 September 2026 and Public Notice No. 31/2026-27 dated 30 September 2026. Under the revised timeline, TRQ holders may surrender any unutilised quantity allocated under the scheme up to 15 November 2026. Surrender remains subject to payment of an amount equivalent to 0.5% of the CIF value of the surrendered quantity, as prescribed under the existing modalities. The extension therefore provides additional time for surrender while retaining the existing payment requirement. The notice expressly states that all other terms and conditions of the three earlier public notices remain unchanged. Its operative change is confined to the surrender timeline; it does not announce a fresh allocation of raw sugar quota or revise the surrender charge. TRQ holders seeking to surrender their unutilised allocations must therefore read the revised deadline together with the continuing conditions prescribed in the earlier notices.
