RRBs – Interest Rates on Non-Resident (External) Rupee (NRE) Deposits and FCNR (B) Deposits

Interest rates on fresh Non-Resident (External) Rupee (NRE) Term Deposits for one to three years maturity should not exceed the LIBOR / SWAP rates plus 275 basis points, as on the last working day of the previous month, for US dollar of corresponding maturities (as against LIBOR / SWAP rates plus 175 basis points effective from the close of business on November 15,2008).The interest rates as determined above for three year deposits will also be applicable in case the maturity period exceeds three years. The changes in interest rates will also apply to NRE deposits renewed after their present maturity period.

Collection of Account Payee Cheques – Prohibition on Crediting Proceeds to Third Party Account

Please refer to our circular RPCD.CO.RF. BC No. 78/07.38.03 / 2005-06 dated April 27, 2006 in terms of which banks are prohibited from crediting ‘account payee’ cheques to the account of any person other than the payee named therein. With a view to mitigate the difficulties faced by the members of co-operative credit societies in collection of account payee cheques, relaxation was extended vide our circular RPCD CO. RCBD. BC. No. 24 /07.38.03/2010-11 dated October 19, 2010. In terms of the said circular, banks may consider collecting account payee cheques drawn for an amount not exceeding Rs.50,000/- to the account of their customers who are co-operative credit societies, if the payees of such cheques are the constituents of such co-operative credit societies.

The Training & Educational Facilities Committee of the Council has approved the new format of the quarterly report to be submitted by the students. Students undergoing 15 months training or part training with Companies, PCS, MCA,ROC,RD,OL ,Financial Institutions, Law firms, Consultancy firms, IICA or any other organization registered with institute for imparting training are required to submit the quarterly report in the prescribed format. The format is available under the ‘Training’ section on the website of the Institute.

1. How to make entries of more than one challans paid in the single month? If the returns are filed through Excel Utilities, more than one challans are not allowed in single month? To avoid such restriction, in the column on month, more rows should be added to the extent number of challans are paid in the month. With Kingfisher and several other airlines landing into dire straits, the industry ministry has moved a draft Cabinet note on allowing 26% FDI by foreign airlines in the domestic carriers. Private airlines in the country are in dire need of funds for their operations and service upgradation to compete with other global carriers, the note circulated by the department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) said.

Sunil K.R. Ghosh & Ors. Vs. K. Ram Chandran & Ors. (Supreme Court)- Employees cannot be compelled to work under a new management and are entitled to retirement or retrenchment benefits, the Supreme Court has held. The apex court rejected the argument of Philip’s India Ltdthat since the employees had neither retired nor retrenched, hence they were not entitled to the benefits.
