Coforge Limited, a leading global AI-native engineering services firm, has announced a strategic partnership with Chippenham Rugby Football Club (RFC) aimed at bolstering community engagement through sports. The collaboration, launched at Chippenham RFC’s Allington Fields, seeks to promote participation in rugby and cricket while fostering local talent development. Representatives from both organisations, along with invited stakeholders, gathered to mark the beginning of this initiative.
Operating under the theme “Raising Our Game. Together.”, the partnership underscores a shared commitment to community investment and long-term development. Coforge will support Chippenham RFC’s initiatives across rugby and cricket, focusing on increasing participation, nurturing talent, and creating opportunities for individuals of varying ages and abilities. This collaboration is expected to enhance the club’s existing programmes, which include senior men’s and women’s rugby, junior and mini rugby, and mixed ability touch and walking rugby. Additionally, the club’s facilities at Allington Fields, which encompass a cricket ground and multi-sports amenities, will benefit from this partnership.
Chippenham RFC, established in 1898, is a community-driven club with over 1,000 members and more than 100 volunteers. Beyond sports, the club actively engages with local schools and community organisations, hosting events such as the Chippenham Schools Tag Rugby Festival, which has historically attracted over 200 local students. The club has also been instrumental in developing over 60 players who have gained international recognition.
John Speight, Executive Director & President and UK and Europe Geo Business Leader at Coforge, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the importance of investing in people and creating growth opportunities. Kevin Thornton, Chairman of Chippenham RFC, echoed this sentiment, noting that Coforge’s values align closely with the club’s philosophy of community development and talent nurturing.
The partnership will see Chippenham RFC’s senior rugby team don Coforge-branded shirts from October 31, 2026. This association is anticipated to facilitate enhanced community participation and engagement with clients and stakeholders through various collaborative activities throughout the year. Analysts view this partnership as a strategic move by Coforge to strengthen its community presence while aligning with its corporate social responsibility objectives.
