NOTIFICATION NO. 43 (RE-2000) 1997-2002

NEW DELHI: the 22nd November, 2000

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 (No. 22 of 1992) read with paragraph 1.3 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002 (incorporating amendment made upto 31.3.2000), the Central Government hereby makes following amendments in the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002: (incorporating amendment made upto 31.3.2000).

Attention is invited to notification no.32(RE-2000) /1997-2000 dated. 1st September, 2000 making it mandatory for all exports as stated in the aforesaid notification to implement bar coding using international symbologies/international numbering standard w.e.f 1st December, 2000.

In view of various representations received, the issue has been re-examined. Keeping in view the various difficulties faced by trade and industry to adopt bar coding from 1st December, It has been decided to postpone the date of implementation from 1st December, 2000 to 1st April, 2001.

This issues in public interest.
