DGFT Extended Free Import Policy for Tur Till 31.03.2027

The Government of India, through the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), has extended the “Free” import policy for Tur/Pigeon Peas (Cajanus cajan) under ITC (HS) Code 07136000 until 31 March 2027. Exercising powers under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 and the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, the notification amends the earlier policy which allowed free imports only up to 31 March 2026. This extension ensures continued unrestricted import of Tur, aiming to stabilize domestic supply and manage price fluctuations in the pulses market. The measure supports food security and helps balance demand-supply dynamics, particularly in the context of domestic production variability. By maintaining a liberal import regime for another year, the Government seeks to ensure availability of essential pulses at reasonable prices while supporting overall market stability.

Subject: Extension in “Free” Import Policy of Tur/Pigeon Peas (Cajanus Cajan) [ITC (HS) 0713 60 00] under ITC (HS) 2022, Schedule – I (Import Policy) till 31.03.2027

S.O.(E): In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 read with Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 (22 of 1992), read with paragraphs 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), 2023, as amended from time to time, the Central Government hereby amends the Import Policy Conditions as under:

Effect of the Notification: The “Free” Import Policy of Tur stands extended up to 31.03.2027.
