Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance’s Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs, has issued Instruction No. 17/2024-Customs on July 5, 2024. This directive updates the list of authorized officers under the Food Safety Standards Act, 2006 and the FSS (Import) Regulation, 2017. It expands the list of entry points for food imports by adding four new locations to the existing 155. The new authorized points of entry include Integrated Chennai Business Park SEZ in Tamil Nadu, ICD Balli in Goa, and two LCSs in Bihar. The instruction requests that Customs officers be made aware of these updates, and any issues should be reported to the Board. An updated list of all 159 points of entry and the designated officers is attached for reference.

Reference is invited to Customs Instruction No. 7/2024-Customs dated 01.04.2024 regarding authorized officers under Section 25 read with Section 47(5) of Food Safety Standard Act, 2006 and Regulation 13(1) of FSS (Import) Regulation 2017 and FSSAI Notifications dated 03.05.2024 and 21.06.2024 issued from File No.1-1715/FSSAI/Imports/2017(Pt.1) (copies enclosed) .

It is stated that, FSSAI has reviewed the Points of entry notified for food imports and vide above notifications dated 03.05.2024 and 21.06.2024 has notified Authorized Officers (FSSAI officials and Customs officials) at following 4 points of Entry in addition to 155 already specified Points of Entry for food import:

In partial modification to FSSAI Notification of even no. 1-1715/FSSAI/Imports/2017 (pt.1) dated Or March 2024 (copy attached) issued in this regard, wherein it has now been decided to notify Authorised Officers at additional food import entry points as mentioned below for food import clearance till further orders.
