Madam/Sir,

Subject: – Cancellation of swapping order w.r.t. 8th & 9th Reallocation of Export Quota for export during Sugar Season 2022-23 and holding of export quota-regarding

Please refer to Instruction No. 33/2022 dated 12.12.2022 on the above subject.

Vide F.No. 1-1/(2022)-Trade letter dated 23.01.2023 (copy enclosed), Department of Food & Public Distribution (DFPD), Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution has informed about cancellation of the following sugar mills till further orders in reference to its 8th & 9th Reallocation of Export Quota for export during Sugar Season 2022-23 and holding of export quota as under:-

I am directed to refer to the 8th & 9th reallocation order dated 26.12.2022 & 02.01.2023 respectively (copy enclosed) and to say that reallocation orders for the following sugar mills stands cancelled till further orders:-

Subject: 8th Reallocation of Export Quota for export during Sugar Season 2022-23 and consequent adjustment of Monthly release quantity on account of exchange of export quantity with domestic monthly release quantity.

Madam/Sir,

In order to prevent uncontrolled export of sugar & with a view to ensure sufficient availability of sugar for domestic consumption at a reasonable price, Government has decided to allow export of sugar up to a reasonable limit w.e.f 01.11.2022 till 31.10.2023. Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce vide Notification No. 40/2015-20 dated 28.10.2022 has also amended export policy in respect of sugar.

2. Subsequently, DFPD vide letter of even number dated 05.11.2022 has allocated export quota of 60 LMT to sugar mills for sugar season 2022-23 w.e.f. 01.11.2022 along with the guidelines for export of sugar.

3. As per clause ‘E’ of the guidelines dated 05.11.2022, DFPD has decided to allow exchange of Export quantity from the quantity of monthly release quota. In this regard, representations along with agreements between sugar mills involved in exchange of their Export quantity and domestic monthly release quantity have been examined in this Department and accordingly additional export quantity has been allocated and domestic quota of the sugar mills have also been adjusted as mentioned in Annexure.
