Extension of deadlines for various compliances under Companies Act

After considering the various representations of stakeholders and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, in order to facilitate defaulting companies to make a fresh start on a clean slate by filing documents required to be filed under the Companies Act, 2013 and Rules made thereunder on the MCA21 registry, the Ministry vide General Circular no.12/2020 dated 30.03.2020, launched a scheme named “Companies Fresh Start Scheme, 2020 (CFSS-2020)” condoning the delay in timely filing of the Annual Return, Financial Statement, various other statements, documents, returns etc. which are required to be filed on the MCA21 electronic registry within prescribed time limits under the Companies Act, 2013.
This was stated by Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister of State for Finance & Corporate Affairs in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
he scheme is effective from 1st April, 2020 to 30th September, 2020 and during the scheme, only normal fees for filing of documents on the MCA21 registry is payable. Further, vide General Circular no.23/2020, dated 17.06.2020, the Ministry launched a scheme named “Scheme for relaxation of time for filing forms related to creation or modification of charge under the Companies Act, 2013” for enabling filing of forms related to creation or modification of charges during the period from 1st March to 30th September 2020 without levy of additional fees.
