Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced changes to the data entry format on the Unique Document Identification Number (UDIN) portal. Effective from December 6, 2024, the format for entering figures and values will shift from alphanumeric to numeric, beginning with the Audit & Assurance Functions category. This phased implementation will extend to the GST & Tax Audit category on December 13, 2024, and Certificates category on December 20, 2024. The change aims to standardize the data entered by members, ensuring uniformity and accuracy across all categories. The revised format will be visible to members in their “List UDIN” dashboard and to verifiers in the verifier panel. This adjustment applies immediately and is expected to enhance consistency in the UDIN generation process.
