The President ICAI requested not to send representation by individual member, instead send it to the Representation to “Representation Committee” at council, the details of which are as follows;

During the interactions with government authority/regulator s., it has been noticed that few individual Chartered Accountants are sending their representations on a regular basis. Sending such individual representations to government authority/regulator s may not serve the effective purpose. At times these representations made may contradict one another. Regulators may give less weightage to the individual representations. On the other hand, when a representation is sent under the authority of the Institute, the same is given a careful consideration by the authorities concerned due to regular two way interactions and as the Institute, is set up by an Act of Parliament.

With the above matters in mind, this year, the Council has constituted a Representation Committee, with the following broad objectives:

To channelise representations prepared by the various Committees of the Council and others for submission to Government, authorities and regulators.

To discuss, negotiate and settle with the Government, authorities and regulators all issues emanating out of the various representations.

To work in close coordination with various Committees of the Institute and act as a single window of communication with the Government, authorities and regulators on all representations made by the Institute.

Members are requested to send their representations for government authority/regulator s. to the Institute, which will be given due consideration by the concerned Committee(s) of the Institute while making the representations. If the members feel that on any particular issue, they are better equipped to take up the matters on behalf of the profession, we are open to the same and may also authorise individual members to represent on behalf of the Institute.
