The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has furthered its global reach by inaugurating new chapters in Florida, USA, and Zurich, Switzerland, marking its 51st and 52nd international chapters. Florida is ICAI’s 12th chapter in the U.S., while Zurich is its first in Switzerland and fifth in Europe, joining locations like London and Amsterdam. At the Florida event, ICAI collaborated with the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) to discuss opportunities at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), highlighting India’s potential for investment and economic growth. Meanwhile, the Zurich chapter was inaugurated in the presence of India’s Ambassador to Switzerland, strengthening ties between Indian chartered accountants and the Swiss market. ICAI now operates in 81 cities across 47 countries, supporting over 40,000 chartered accountants abroad. The institute’s international network provides a platform for knowledge exchange, professional growth, and promotion of investment opportunities in India, supporting the country’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” mission. With 52 chapters and 29 representative offices, ICAI’s chapters also function as centers for trade and networking, promoting Indian financial expertise globally. Established under the Chartered Accountants Act of 1949, ICAI is India’s statutory accounting body with over 4 lakh members and nearly 9.85 lakh students, making it one of the largest professional accounting organizations globally.

Expanding Global Presence: ICAI Inaugurates Florida & Zurich Chapter Marking 52nd Overseas Milestone
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) expanded its global footprint with the inauguration of Florida (USA) and Zurich Chapter recently. Florida Chapter is the 12th Chapter in the USA after Arizona, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Michigan, New England, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C. The Zurich Chapter is the 1st Chapter in Switzerland and 5th in Europe following London (UK), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Luxembourg and Dublin (Ireland).
On the occasion, CA. The inauguration of the Florida Chapter took place alongside a joint event organized by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) and the ICAI San Francisco Chapter. During the event, the Chairman of IFSCA, along with Executive Director Dipesh Shah also highlighted the various opportunities available in the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City). These discussions provided valuable insights into the potential for growth and investment opportunities in India.
The Zurich Chapter was inaugurated in the Presence of Shri Mridul Kumar, Hon’ble Ambassador of India to Switzerland.
ICAI has come a long way in strengthening its global presence, since the establishment of its first overseas chapter in Doha, Qatar, in 1981. With the inauguration of the Zurich chapter, ICAI’s network now spans 81 cities across 47 countries, comprising 52 chapters, 29 representative offices globally, and a robust presence in India through 5 Regional Councils and 177 Branches. This expansion reflects ICAI’s steadfast commitment to building a unified, global community of accounting professionals contributing to the economic growth of nations worldwide.
ICAI overseas chapters provide a platform for Indian CAs abroad, for furtherance of their professional pursuits and knowledge and promoting affability amongst ICAI members. ICAI overseas Chapters facilitate in bringing foreign investment to India and also assist the Indian Industry by guiding them about the investment opportunities in different parts of the world thereby creating avenues for them to become Atamanirbhar.
ICAI Chapters and representative offices also promote opportunities for networking for the members. These Chapters work as the embassy of ICAI, and the Ministry of External Affairs also recognizes them as trade centres for coordination between India and these countries.
