On January 3, 2025, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) issued multiple notifications about the disciplinary actions taken against certain Chartered Accountants (CAs) for professional misconduct. CA. Arunabha Chattopadhyay (Membership No. 058457) was found guilty and had his name removed from the Register of Members for three months, along with a Rs. 1,00,000 fine. Similarly, CA. Pandia Rajan R (Membership No. 212861) was removed for 60 days and fined Rs. 20,000. CA. Ranjit Kumar Yadav (Membership No. 525751) faced a three-month suspension and a fine of Rs. 1,00,000. CA. Anand Kumar Jhunjhunwala (Membership No. 056613) was removed for three years and one month, with a fine of Rs. 5,00,000, while CA. Akshay Jain (Membership No. 241125) was removed for five years and one month, with a similar fine.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has issued a notification regarding the disciplinary action against CA Muni Kumar Gubiligari (Membership No. 234106). The Disciplinary Committee found him guilty of professional misconduct under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, in two separate cases. As a result, his name was removed from the Register of Members for a period of 90 days, along with a fine of Rs. 20,000, to be paid within 90 days. If the fine was not paid on time, the removal period would be extended by an additional 30 days. In a third case, his name was removed for 60 days. The punishments for both matters will run concurrently, totaling a consolidated removal period of 120 days, effective from January 3, 2025, due to his failure to pay the imposed fine.

These actions were based on the provisions of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, following investigations of professional misconduct.

Arunabha Chattopadhyay (Membership No. 058457) from the Register of Members for a period of 03(Three) months and also imposed a fine of Rs. 1,00,000/-(Rupees One Lakh only) to be paid within 90(ninety) days and in case of default in payment of fine within stipulated time his name shall be removed for a further period of 30(Thirty) days. Since the Respondent had failed to pay the imposed fine within stipulated time, in pursuance of the aforesaid Order of the Disciplinary Committee and in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 20 of the aforesaid Act, read with Regulation 18 of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, it is hereby notified that the name of CA. Arunabha Chattopadhyay (Membership No. 058457), shall stand removed from the Register of Members for a consolidated period 03(Three) months and 30(Thirty) days [03(Three) months plus additional 30(Thirty) days] with effect from 3rd January, 2025.
