Sir/Madam,

Please refer to the above cited subject.

2. Several references were received by EPFO regarding difficulty faced in submission of life certificates by Nepalese pensioners for continued drawl of pension under Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995. The matter was taken with Reserve Bank of India in respect of the procedure to be adopted by Indian Banks who have branches in Nepal for submission of life certificates of Nepalese pensioners.

3. The Reserve Bank of India has clarified the procedure for the above and issued the same to SBI & PNB. The procedure to be adopted is given below:

” The Bank Managers or authorized officials of Nepal SBI Bank Limited (NSBL)/Everest Bank Limited (EBL) located in Nepal may certify the physical copy of the Life certificate of the pensioners residing in Nepal and forward the same to the Pension Paying Branch of SBI/PNB respectively of the concerned pensioner in India. The Branch Manager of SBI/PNB (home branch located in India ) may authenticate the signature of the Branch Manager or authorized official of NSBL/EBL as the case may be and forward the Life Certificate of the pensioner to the concerned Provident Fund Office where his pension account is maintained to facilitate release of pension”.

4. Accordingly, all field offices are advised to follow the above procedure in respect of submission and acceptance of Life certificate by Nepalese pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995.

[This issues with the approval of the CPFC

Yours faithfully,
