Public Notice No. 45 (RE-2000)/1997-2002

In exercise of powers conferred under paragraph 4.11 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby makes the following amendments to the procedure regarding import of seconds/defectives of steel items:
1. Import of seconds/defectives of steel items as mentioned at S.No.1 to 7 of Import Licensing Notes 3, appearing in Chapter 72 of the ITC (HS) classification of Export and Import items , 1997-2002, shall be allowed only through customs sea port at Mumbai, Chennai and Calcutta.
2. Import consignments of above mentioned seconds/defectives of steel items shall be accompanied by a pre shipment certificate regarding description of material, material quality, chemical analysis of the material, visual inspection, thickness and width of material and the ITC (HS) Code No. from any of the inspection agency as specified in Appendix 32A of the Hand Book of Procedures, Vol..I ,1997-2002, as amended from time to time .
