Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a prominent player in India’s renewable energy sector and a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has successfully commissioned a 300 MW solar project for the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) in Koppal, Karnataka. This development marks a significant achievement in TPREL’s ongoing mission to expand its portfolio of large-scale renewable energy projects across the nation.

The newly commissioned project is expected to generate approximately 810 million units (MUs) of renewable energy annually, significantly contributing to India’s clean energy transition. It is also anticipated to mitigate around 103,820 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year, furthering India’s commitment to a sustainable energy future. The project utilises advanced solar tracking technology, with Solar Trackers enabling the solar modules to follow the sun’s movement, thereby optimising energy generation. Additionally, the deployment of TP580HG10NB bifacial modules enhances the efficiency of the site, ensuring maximum utilisation of resources.

A notable aspect of the Koppal project is its diverse workforce, with women professionals comprising nearly 40% of the team on site. These women have played pivotal roles as Site Managers and Site Engineers, contributing to technical execution, engineering, and team management. This reflects the increasing involvement of women in technical and leadership roles within India’s renewable energy sector.

With the commissioning of the Koppal project, TPREL strengthens its portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects, underscoring its commitment to supporting India’s transition towards a low-carbon energy future. The company’s total renewable utility capacity has now reached 12 GW, with approximately 7.2 GW operational, including 5.8 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity, while about 4.9 GW is under various stages of implementation.

As part of the Tata Group, India’s largest multinational business conglomerate, Tata Power continues to lead in the clean energy transition. The company aims to achieve Net Zero by 2045, leveraging its diversified portfolio and strong execution capabilities to deliver reliable and sustainable energy solutions across India. Analysts view Tata Power’s strategic initiatives as pivotal in aligning with national and global clean energy goals, reflecting a robust commitment to environmental sustainability and technological advancement.
