This robust performance also saw the company achieve a Profit After Tax (PAT) before exceptional items of INR 101 crore, marking a 171% year-on-year growth.
The company’s strong operational execution has been a key driver of this financial success, as evidenced by the 26% year-on-year increase in power sales. Vedanta Power’s first-ever positive Earnings Per Share (EPS) of 0.21 further underscores the company’s financial turnaround. The results reflect a significant improvement in operational efficiency and asset utilisation, with notable contributions from Meenakshi Energy and Jharsuguda Independent Power Plant, which recorded substantial increases in power sales and plant availability.
For the first half of FY27, Vedanta Power reported a 35% increase in revenue to INR 5,515 crore and a 17% rise in EBITDA to INR 712 crore. The company’s strategic focus on enhancing asset efficiency and expanding capacity has positioned it well to meet the growing demand for reliable power in India. CEO Rajinder Singh Ahuja highlighted the company’s commitment to operational excellence and sustainable growth, emphasising the importance of reliable power supply and long-term value creation for stakeholders.
Vedanta Power’s financial performance has also been bolstered by a stronger balance sheet, with a notable reduction in net debt and improved financial metrics. The company’s Net Debt/EBITDA ratio improved to 4.47x from 9.82x a year ago, reflecting disciplined cost management and prudent capital allocation. The company’s focus on sustainability and community engagement has been recognised with several awards, including the India CSR Awards 2026 for healthcare and agriculture development initiatives.
Analysts view Vedanta Power’s performance as a testament to its strategic execution and operational resilience. The company’s inclusion in the Nifty 500 and Nifty Smallcap 250 indices, along with its improved credit ratings, underscores its growing stature in the Indian power sector. As Vedanta Power continues to pursue organic expansion and asset reliability, it remains well-positioned to become one of India’s top three private thermal power producers by FY33.
