New Delhi, October 29, 2026: PI Industries has announced a significant breakthrough in Indian agricultural science with the unveiling of Pioxaniliprole, the country’s first indigenously discovered insecticide molecule. This development is the result of over a decade of dedicated research, substantial investment, and scientific innovation, marking a pivotal milestone for both the company and India’s crop-protection industry.

Pioxaniliprole exemplifies India’s advancing capability to originate novel scientific discoveries and establish proprietary intellectual property. India, with its vast and diverse agricultural ecosystem, faces unique challenges due to varying crops, agro-climatic conditions, and pest pressures. PI Industries, with its extensive experience in the field, has collaborated with Indian agricultural universities and scientists to address these complexities, culminating in the creation of Pioxaniliprole. The molecule has been developed to meet global scientific standards and has undergone rigorous evaluation under Indian agricultural conditions, including multilocation field trials and scientific assessments.

The Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee (CIB&RC), under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, has granted registration to Pioxaniliprole, recognising it as the first insecticide active ingredient discovered in India. Mayank Singhal, Vice Chairperson & Managing Director of PI Industries, expressed pride in this achievement, stating that it demonstrates the potential of combining a deep understanding of Indian agriculture with world-class science. He emphasised that this success strengthens PI’s ambition to become a global, innovation-led life sciences company.

The discovery of Pioxaniliprole is part of PI’s broader innovation pipeline, which includes advancements in chemistry, biology, and biochemical solutions. This development signifies an important step towards greater scientific self-reliance in India, enhancing indigenous research capabilities and creating opportunities for Indian-origin agricultural innovation to address global challenges. Narayan K. Seshadri, Chairperson of PI Industries, highlighted that this breakthrough reflects the company’s long-term commitment to building a sustained innovation pipeline and developing differentiated technologies for global agriculture.

PI Industries, established in 1946, is a global life sciences organisation with expertise in agri-sciences, speciality chemicals, ag-biologicals, and pharmaceuticals. With a robust research and development ecosystem and a strong global presence, PI Industries continues to be a leader in the field, recognised for its sustainability, safety, governance, and innovation best practices. The unveiling of Pioxaniliprole not only marks a new chapter for the company but also for Indian agricultural innovation on the global stage.
