The Council at its 201st meeting held on 23rd-24th June, 2011, in supersession of its earlier decision which was notified in October, 2008 issue of Chartered Secretary, has decided that with effect from 24th June, 2011, for the purpose of clause (c) of Regulation 48 of the Company Secretaries Regulations, 1982, the number of trainees to be sponsored by the Company Secretary in Practice (PCS) including a partner in a firm of Company Secretaries, will be equal to the number of years of continuous practice of the concerned member subject to a maximum of twenty trainees.
The Institute is pleased to inform you that Ministry of Corporate Affairs decided to utilize the services of Certified Filing Centers (CFC) for enabling companies to file their financial statement in XBRL from FY 2010-11 onwards. CFC would also be required to assist companies in XBRL filing of the financial statements as well as provide training and technical support to stakeholders.

With a view to regulate the profession of Company Secretaries and in terms of the powers vested, the Council is thus authorised to issue these guidelines for Peer Review. These guidelines serve as a mechanism intended to further enhance the quality of professional work of Practising Company Secretaries over a period of time, thereby ensuring that the profession of Company Secretaries continues to serve the society in the manner envisaged.
The Annual Membership fee and Certificate of Practice fee for the year 2011-12 became due for payment w.e.f. 1st April, 2011. The last date for payment of annual membership fee was 30th June, 2011 which has now been extended upto 31st August, 2011. Members who are yet to pay the fees are requested to pay the fee so as to reach the Institute latest by 31st August, 2011.

Application for life membership of CSBF has to be submitted in the prescribed Form-A (available on the website of the Institute i.e. www.icsi.edu) and should be accompanied by Demand Draft or Cheque (payable at par) for Rs. 5,000/- drawn in favour of “Company Secretaries Benevolent Fund” payable at New Delhi and the same can be deposited in the offices of any of the Regional Councils located at Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai. The process of organizing the 11th ICSI National Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance 2011 which was instituted in the year 2001 by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India has commenced. The Award aims to identify corporates which best establish and follow good corporate governance norms in letter and spirit. The award is based on the outcome of concerted and comprehensive process which includes the evaluation of responses of the participating companies to questionnaires designed by the Institute.
