Notification under sub-regulation (1) of regulation 5A of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Central Database of Market Participants) Regulations, 2003

S.O. No. 954(E).  WHEREAS vide Notifications F.No.SEBI/LE/03/22/75 dated 25^th November, 2003, F.No.SEBI/LE/03/23142 dated 9^th December 2003, S.O. No. 467(E) dated 5^th April, 2004, and S.O. No. 884(E) dated 30^th July, 2004, certain specified intermediaries and their related persons were required to obtain unique identification numbers under sub-regulation (1) of regulation 4 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Central Database of Market Participants) Regulations, 2003 (hereinafter referred to as ‘the said Regulations’) within the 31^st day of March 2004 (which was later extended to the 31^st day of June 2004) or the 31^st day of December, 2004, as the case may be;

AND WHEREAS the Board has received representations about undue hardship which may be caused by insistence on strict compliance with the above time limits in respect of related persons of specified intermediaries being their promoters or directors who are resident outside India;

NOW THEREFORE in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-regulation (1) of regulation 5A of the said Regulations and after having been satisfied that it is necessary to do so in order to prevent genuine hardship, the Board hereby specifies the ‘30^th day of June 2005’, as the extended date within which such promoters or directors of specified intermediaries, as are resident outside India, shall obtain unique identification numbers.
