CBDT extends ad-hoc appointment to the JCIT grade of 163 IRS officers

OFFICE ORDER NO. 37 OF 2021

With the approval of the Competent Authority, the term of ad-hoc appointment of the following IRS Officers to the grade of Joint Commissioner of Income Tax (JCIT) is further extended from 01.01.2021 till they join to the grade of JCIT on regular basis or till the Retirement/VRS of officials, whichever is earlier: –

2. Approval of Competent Authority is also conveyed for extension of the term of ad-hoc appointment of Shri A.K. Bhatia (08511) to the grade of JCIT from 16.09.2020 to 30 06.2021.

3. The Competent Authority has decided not to extend the term of ad-hoc appointment in respect of following IRS officers of 2009 Batch to the post of JCIT and has decided to revert these officers to their substantive post i.e. Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax with effect from the afternoon of 16.02.2021:

However, approval for continuation of term of ad-hoc appointment is conveyed for the period from 13.09.2020 to 16.02.2021 (A/N) in respect of Shri Seva Ram Sharma (09524) & from 01.01.2021 to 16.02.2021 (A/N) in respect of Shri Vimalraj Periyagounden (09103) respectively i.e. the period during which they have discharged the duties & functions of JCIT, in view of administrative necessity.

4. These promotions are intended to be purely on ad-hoc nature subject to the following conditions: –

(i) Such appointments shall not confer any right to the officers for continued officiating or seniority or for regular promotion and shall be governed by the instructions of DOP&T as contained in OM No. 28036/8/87-Estt.(D) dated 30.03.1988 and instructions issued by Government from time to time;

(ii) These appointments will not confer any right or equity in favour of the appointees.
