Effective July 9th, 2024, the GSTN has enhanced the permissible size for document uploads pertaining to Principal Place of Business and Additional Places of Business. This revision addresses longstanding concerns raised by the business community regarding document size limitations.

The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) recently responded to feedback from taxpayers and stakeholders by expanding the allowable file size for key document uploads. Previously capped at 100 KB, documents such as Municipal Khata Copy, Electricity Bill, Consent Letter, and Property Tax Receipt can now be uploaded in JPEG or PDF formats up to 500 KB each.

This adjustment aims to streamline the registration and amendment processes, reducing administrative hurdles for businesses across various sectors. By increasing the upload limit, GSTN anticipates smoother transactions and improved compliance among taxpayers.

Businesses seeking new registrations or amendments will find this update particularly beneficial, as it enhances their ability to submit comprehensive documentation without compression or compromise. This move underscores GSTN’s commitment to operational efficiency and responsiveness to industry feedback.
