Dear Colleagues,

A new era in indirect taxation dawns from today bringing along with it a renewed sense of rejuvenation. In this entire journey, all the officers and staff of CBEC have really pushed themselves with endless determination to achieve what we have been striving for, for so long. My heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to each one of you for your resolve and perseverance. We know that the task ahead is very challenging and I am sure you will join me in echoing the thought that we are ready to take up any challenge post GST might throw.

This is the beginning of a long journey, a journey which is for nation building and prosperity for all. I am happy to inform that the first Bill of Entry and Shipping Bill has been filed under the new tax regime at Chennai.

As Hon’ble Prime Minister mentioned in his speech in the Central Hall of Parliament during the launch of GST that it is a ‘Good and Simple Tax’, it should now be our endeavour to ensure this and together I am sure we will.

I once again thank you all for all your effort and hard work so far and look forward to continued and renewed energy of our department in the onward journey.
