Godrej Properties Limited, in collaboration with RC Group and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), has inaugurated a new pedestrian corridor along LK Mehta Marg in Bandra, Mumbai. This development marks the first completed public infrastructure project under the Bandra Bay Beautification Initiative, a significant step towards transforming the area into a more accessible and vibrant waterfront destination. The inauguration was officiated by Adv. Ashish Shelar, the Hon’ble Minister for Electronics, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra, and MLA, Bandra West.
The newly developed corridor aims to enhance pedestrian safety and ease of movement, contributing to a more welcoming environment for the community. It is the initial phase of a comprehensive plan for Bandra Bay, which includes the addition of a green promenade, open lawns, a pet park, a quiet reading zone, and an amphitheatre. Future phases are set to introduce a mini golf course and a sports and activity zone, further enriching the area’s appeal.
During the inauguration, Adv. Ashish Shelar highlighted the significance of Bandra Bay as a central part of Mumbai’s identity. He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including Godrej Properties, RC Group, the Mumbai Police, and the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), for their collaborative efforts in realising this vision. The event also featured community wellness activities, such as cycling, Zumba, yoga, and interactive art sessions, fostering a sense of community engagement and enjoyment.
Amitesh Shah, CEO of the Mumbai MMR Region for Godrej Properties, emphasised the company’s commitment to enhancing public spaces alongside residential developments. Anup Singh, Head of Design & Regulatory at RC Group, echoed this sentiment, noting that the project exemplifies the power of public-private partnerships in creating beneficial infrastructure for the community.
The Bandra Bay Beautification Initiative reflects a broader trend of urban development projects in Mumbai, aiming to balance accessibility with community engagement. As the project progresses, it is expected to contribute positively to the local real estate market and the overall urban landscape of Mumbai, aligning with Godrej Properties’ vision of sustainable and community-focused development.
