Central Bureau of Investigation has caught red handed an Inspector of Central Excise, Range-III, Division-I, Ankleshwar for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.5000/- from the complainant.

It was alleged in the complaint that the complainant had supplied some goods to a Company on 24.10.2011 and had to provide the intimation to Central Excise Office in writing by 25.10.2011. Due to this delay, receipt of the monthly Return filed by the complainant was not acknowledged by the Inspector, Central Excise. The accused informed the complainant that the same will be acknowledged only after he pays an illegal gratification of Rs.5000/- to settle the matter of delay intimation. CBI laid a trap and the accused was arrested while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.5000/- from the complainant.

The arrested accused was produced before the Special Judge for CBI Cases and was remanded to 14 days Judicial Custody.
