THREE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT WITH FINE OF RS. 20,000/- TO THEN SUPERINTENDENT OF CENTRAL CUSTOMS & EXCISE IN A BRIBERY CASE
The Special Judge for CBI cases, Visakhaptnam has convicted Sri Bhitravarapu Srikrishna, then Superintendent, Customs & Central Excise, Guntur Division, Customs & Central Excise, Brodipet, Guntur in a bribery case U/s.7 & 13(2) r/w. 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988 and sentenced him to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.20,000/-.
The investigation revealed that Sri B. Srikrishna while working as Superintendent (Preventive) in the Customs & Central Excise, Brodipet, Guntur had demanded a bribe of Rs.3,000/- from the Complainant (Owner of a Cell Phone Shop at Brodipet, Guntur) as a reward for not conducting raid on his Cell Phone Shop. During the trap, Sri B. Srikrishna was caught red handed while demanding & accepting the bribe of Rs. 3,000/- from the Complainant.
The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
